En Fuego San Diego

File this under the category of "life can not get anymore complicated"... If you don't live in Southern California you may not realize the severity of what is going on here in San Diego. 1691919258_e4b9749ed5_m.jpgWe currently have 8 various fires around the county. The county is blanketed in smoke and white ash is falling like Christmas snow. And yes, I'm freaking out. And sitting here with my legs crossed.

This pic was taken around 7 am this morning - the smoke in the distance..

For the first time in about a week, I'm really hoping to not go into labor. To get to my hospital from here, we have to pretty much drive through an evacuation zone.. my Dr's office is in an evacuation zone... and they recently announced that our "back up emergency" hospital has been closed to all non-life threatening emergencies. 1696596216_91d64c2000_m.jpgWhich, believe you me, if I'm about to have a baby, it will be a life threatening emergency if they try to turn me away. Life threatening for them.. hahaha.

Deep breath.. oh wait, no deep breath.. cough cough..

This picture was taken at about 10 am

We were sitting here debating jumping on the freeway and getting the hell out of Dodge, but the issue with San Diego is that we have 2 freeways that head north out of the county.. and one is currently shut down. So.

This pic was taken at about 1:30 PM - looking west from our house.

Southern Cali is burning, but Princess B is holding steady

4 years ago to the day, San Diego went ablaze with wildfires.. I remember it distinctly, as I was 21 weeks pregnant and we had just found out that we were having a baby boy. The city was declared to be in a state of emergency, and actually shut down completely. Today, the combination of the Santa Ana winds and mixed with the dried out brush of east county to once again cause acres and acres to go up in flames around San Diego county. While the actual fire is no where near us, the wind brings the smoke straight west - right to the coast.

And no, it has not caused me to go into labor.

Neither has spicy food, walking, stressful situations such as the fact that we realized TODAY that our over priced infant car seat that we kept so nicely boxed up since Lucas grew out of it 3-years ago is a broken piece of shit and oh, yea, if you drive an Audi there is approximately ONE style car seat that works best in your car, and oh yea its $200 and no we don't have any in stock at the moment, but maybe in 2-3 weeks? WHAT?! I don't have 2-3 weeks! I'm hoping I don't have one week! And if I AM still in this predicament next week at this time, we may have to resort to having sex!

So yea, still pregnant.

Full Term Friday

37 Weeks.

When I was thinking about writing this post earlier in the week, I was filled with optimism and anticipation. Tuesday I really thought I was going into labor. I had the majority of the "early warning" symptoms. I was hoping that after my Dr's appt today I was going to report that we are baby watch level orange. But alas, we are not. I'm wrapped up tighter than a present on Christmas Eve. Apparently the hours of "contractions" I thought I was having throughout the week, were due to Monday's night Indian Buffet, and not the fact that I'm 9 months pregnant.

I've also had a pretty horrible day which included horrible news about a family member, getting suckered into an over-priced car wash (a "mini detail") that took 30 minutes longer than promised, having to climb my pregnant ass up a ratty play structure to rescue my kid who climbed to the top and freaked out and wouldn't climb down, realizing - while stuck in traffic - that said car wash STOLE MY MOTHER FREAKING iPOD from my car, apparently not being able to handle my prenatal yoga class anymore without limping the rest of the day, all which led to high blood pressure and a mini-break down on the way to the doctors.

fun, fun.

fun.

Asshole or just ignorant?

Last night we were in S'bucks at Barnes and Noble. The S'bucks has a one-holer bathroom, but at the back of the B&N (about 100 - 200 ft back?) there are bigger bathrooms - men and women with multiple stalls.

This man is standing there. Maybe in his mid-late 30's. This little girl, maybe 5 or 6, runs over to the door and tries to open the door to the bathroom and it's locked b/c there is someone in there. Being a kid, she doesn't get that and she tries to shake the door again. The man standing there goes "Um, there is someone in there - and I'm waiting in line here. But there is a bathroom at the back of B&N."

At this point, everyone just glares at this man. The woman in the bathroom took about 5 more minutes in there. The entire time, the little girl was doing a pee-pee dance, obviously she had to go pretty bad.

The door to the bathroom opened. And the woman walked out, and the man walked in and closed the door.

I understand that even adults have to go when they have to go.. but being an adult, shouldn't this man (who stood there in line for over 5 minutes himself) have taken the incentive to walk to the back of the store?

Needless to say, all the people standing there were a little shocked. No one could believe that he didn't let the kid go before him. People were shaking their heads, etc.

Over the past few months, I've had very nice people offer to let me cut in line.. esp. if I have Lucas with me. I've even had people come out of stalls and look at me and apologize, saying "OMG, I didn't notice you were pregnant, I would have totally let you go.."

I'm a firm believer that kids get priority. And I would offer up a stall to a preggo (when I'm not preggo). But is this just me?

Was this man just ignorant.. or was he just an asshole?

The Final Countdown...

1574465956_f6e239637b_m.jpg

Here I am last weekend.. 36 weeks.. One week away from being "full term". What can I say about this point in my pregnancy? Well, first I can say that I'm really trying hard to enjoy these last few moments/days/weeks of my (for all intensive purposes) last pregnancy. I'm trying to relish these last kicks and rolls. Then I try to get up off the couch.

Stick a fork in me. I'm done.

The Braxton Hicks contractions are coming on fast and furious now, but with no consistency or change in intensity. This morning greeted me with some new fun symptoms. Nausea, cramping, more contractions... signs of early labor? Is this is?!1574510812_878a85f9ce_m.jpg

Well, no.. or at least not yet..

These final weeks are the hardest. The excitement, the anticipation mixed with the feeling of OHMYGOD I'm about to have another baby. And it could happen pretty much any day now..
