ObamaMama

I guess you have figured our our political stance by now.. that we are, well, you know.. a little liberal around these parts. But as we like to think, we are liberal because we are smart. I do try, really I do, to see the republican way of thinking. But I just can't. And it KILLS me when middle class people tout they are republicans because they don't like Higher taxes (huh. really? Because YOU are paying the most while the oil companies ((who I guess are not making enough money raping us at the gas stations)) are getting the tax breaks from McCain) and because they will work 3 jobs to pay for their own health care (yea, why don't you see if you can get APPROVED before you spew that! Ever take an ambien to help you sleep? DENIAL. Shit, it's not just a river!)

I really try to be open minded. I do because I believe that's what being a true liberal means, that you are open minded and accepting of others opinions, views and human rights and liberties.

Regardless of what you think tho, I hope that the spirit of what we are experiencing here today touches you in some little way. This summer we got to go to the wedding of two of our best friends because as a homosexual couple they were finally granted the right to legally wed. Today we see a black man accept the nomination for President of the United States. It's an amazing time.

I actually just meant to re-direct you over to DadCentric, where Jason gives a very thorough explanation of why we are pro-Obama. His thoughts, as always, are very amusing and written in such a way that even a Republican can understand.

Personal Insanity

The good news is that I have finally finished all 4 novels in the Twilight Series, which means, yes, I can get a life again. The timing of the 2008 summer Olympic games seriously toyed with the reading flow I had going.. Michael Phelps making Olympic Gold history or will Bella finally become a Vampire? USA gymnastics or Jacob's wolf issues? THE CHOICES. So hard. I got so desperate to find extra minutes to read I would pretend to be nursing Zoe just to lay and read for 20 minutes. Apparently it's a trend sweeping the nation (duh, Beth, really?) but no - not the hottest book for 15 year old girl thing - but that 30-somethings around the blogosphere are too getting sucked into Stephanie Myers web.

But don't despair, I did not totally flake out on my responsibilities altogether. I did manage to work.. we took the kids for a bike ride in their new bike trailer:

As you can see, they both enjoyed it immensely.

Breakfast

This morning I woke up and had a cup of coffee (1% milk, splenda) and a 45 calorie slice of wheat bread with 1pnt WW cream cheese.

This morning, Lucas woke up with a fever, but still managed to consume a bowl of Honey Nut O's and 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter.

Zoe, my little 15 lb pixie fairy, nursed for 30 minutes, ate a cup of Joe's O's, a whole banana, a handful of baby fruit puffs, and a piece of toast with cream cheese.

Pure Insanity I tell you.

Look at me getting all political..

I guess I really need to get off my lazy ass and volunteer for the Obama campaign, and try and make a difference in getting this man elected. I did get an email back from Barak "himself".. kinda. Regardless, he has a plan and is goal is to get it pushed through during his first term. While that may mean that people like me have 4 more years of insurance hell, it also means that people in my situation 4 years from now may not be.

This Time, It's Personal talks a little more about the plans, if you want to educate yourself further...

A very liberal person said to me recently that the situation, that hard working tax paying citizens like us can't get coverage, but the illegal immigrants up the street are able to take full advantage of the programs that our government offers, is enough to make them feel like a redneck, bigot Republican. My response was simple, I hope they DO take advantage of the programs that the state has to offer, because they probably can't afford the $140 it would cost to take their kids to a Dr and get an antibiotic Rx filled... sick children who need to see a Dr and need medicine, yet are going untreated.

Then we both teared up and decided to talk about jeans instead.
