Make-Up Monday: I'm Lovin' Avon's New Totally Kissable Lipstick
This weekend I had an amazing girls weekend with some of my favorite bloggers. Spa time, eating, too much champagne and endless talk of make-up filled the weekend. Being the mama in the know, and an Avon ambassador, Romy of Romy Raves brought us all little gift bags from Avon with items from their new collection - including the amazing new "Totally Kissable" lipstick.
This is the smoothest lipstick I've ever tried. It's butter soft and goes on amazingly. I'm currently obsessed with Lovey Dovey Pink, but also loving the Make-Out Red and Red Embrace. What color would you want to try for Spring 2013?
*HUGE thanks to Romy and Avon for the goodies! XO
Make-Up Look I Love! Julianne Hough @ Safe Harbor Premier
While I'm really not a fan of Nicholas Sparks books or movies, I actually can't wait to see Safe Harbor. I ended up with the book as part of my BlogHer '12 swag and almost read the whole thing on my flight home. To me, books like this have a special time and place - delayed flight home after 6 days drinking and eating and running around NYC? PERFECT TIMING for a Nicholas Sparks book.
Needless to say, I'm already planning a night out with a girlfriend to go and cry over this sappy tale as it plays out on the big screen.
Also? I'm a little obsessed with how adorable Julianne Hough is. And if I can connect myself to her by one degree (or item?) ... she wore my favorite Votre Vu eyeliner and mascara to the premier of Safe Haven.
“Her entire look was inspired by her Alberta Ferretti dress which was a very sheer, nude color with beautiful, subtle detailing and shimmering pieces. We wanted to keep the makeup in line with that magical, ethereal feeling, nothing too strong.
I started by prepping Julianne’s skin with the Votre Vu Attentive Skincare Line for sensitive skin. She was extremely happy with the result from the products and the pick-me-up they immediately provided for her skin. The product that I liked the most was the Attentive Crème du Jour, which I applied with a foundation brush in order to get a very even veil.
We wanted to focus to be her eyes, so we went with a very natural face. I applied the Votre Vu Love Me Deux in Provence all over to give her skin a youthful, luminous, lightweight look.
Then to give her a little color back, I took the Vu-On Rouge in Bouquet Rose and used my fingers to warm it up on the back of my hand, then blended it onto the apples of her cheeks. This skin-on-skin application made it softer and sheerer. Then I took a lip brush and applied the Vu-On Rouge in Bouquet Rose directly onto her lips with it. The brush gave greater control and a heavier application for denser color. I finished her lips off with a pale nude gloss to give it a bit more moisture and then set her face with the Belle Poudre HD Sheer Face Powder in Medium.
Next, I used the Beauté en Bronze duo and used a larger powder brush to give her a little kiss of sun and then an angled brush to sculpt the sides of the face, cheek bones, neck and jawline. Then I took the blush and applied it right on the apples of the cheeks. Placement was key with this duo to get the dynamic quality of them playing off of each other.
Now for her eyes, the focus of the face.
I prepped her lids with a nude shadow base. Then took the Le Joli Crayon in Aubergine and smudged it into her upper lash line. Then using a trio of eye shadows from Face Atelier, I created an iridescent look of pale silver, pink/gold, and deep brown.
Lastly, I curled her lashes, applied the Eiffel Power mascara and then finished off with her brows using the Arch de Triumphe in Fair. To set her face for the night, I used the À Votre Santé Refreshing Spray.
When she got into the dress, it was apparent that the look had come together perfectly. “

What do you think? Do you prefer a smoky eye and nude lip or less eyemake-up and bold lip?
Strawberry Shortcake: Follow Your Berry Own Beat
Yes, I spent Saturday afternoon hanging out with the one and only Strawberry Shortcake. And? It rocked. Or as SS would say, "It was BERRY Awesome."
It really was an adorable show - full of catchy tunes and good messages of friendship and girl power. Zoe LOVED every moment of it. She didn't sit down for more than a few seconds and at the end she actually rushed the stage like a rabid fangirl (check out video below - we may have to have a talk about things like this later in life...).
The show was really cute and the girls who played all the "berry" characters from "berry bitty city" were adorable and sweet. We had a VIP "strawberry milk and cookies" party to start off the show, and Zoe almost died when she got to meet and hug all the characters.
For us moms it was a walk down memory lane. I think whenever we get to do these things with our kids the memories of being 5 come flooding back.
I love what they have done to update the franchise, and we, of course, are big fans of the HUB show and I think we have watched the Jammin' with Cherry Jam DVD 28 times in the past 2 days.
While this was the US debut of the show, the show has been touring in Canada since January.
The production also brings to life her best friends Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, Blueberry Muffin, Raspberry Torte, Plum Pudding, and Cherry Jam and features original and fan favorite songs from the hit TV show, “Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures,” currently airing on The Hub network in the U.S. The musical adventure takes audiences to the whimsical land of Berry Bitty City where the whole town is buzzing with anticipation for the Glitzy Glaze Talent Show.
